The Cambria ARES mission:

Working with local amateur radio operators, Cambria ARES intends to build a team of dedicated amateur radio operators ready to serve the community in times of need. We will build a strong relationship with Cambria RACES and our local served agencies. Active ARES members will receive regular emergency communications training and participate in emergency drills. We will promote public awareness of amateur radio and demonstrate its value to the community. Also, the recruitment of new amateur radio operators into the hobby is a priority for Cambria ARES.

Inter-county emergency communications are a critical part of the Cambria ARES plan. Cambria ARES will coordinate with surrounding county ARES/RACES teams and participate in their emergency preparedness drills.

Along with K3WS Tom Brew, ARES Emergency Coordinator, our growing membership includes:

Cambria ARES AEC (Assistant Emergency Coordinator) KB3PSJ Tom Gallo and

ARES NCS (Net Control Station) N3WUR Stephen Tondora.

Our roster is growing and we will post it here shortly.

If you are interested in joining Cambria ARES, download the application HERE.

If you have any questions about Cambria ARES, please contact us HERE and we will provide any information you need.

-CAMBRIA ARES NEWS

-Join us for an informal digital net on Thursday evenings around 7:30 on the WA3WGN repeater on 146.94 mhz. Several local operators have been enjoying digital slow scan, and this is good practice for digital emergency communications. See the CVARC News page for more information.

-WA3WGN is EchoLink capable at K3WS-L 377672 and K3WS-R 377673. Thanks go to K3WS Tom Brew, Cambria ARES EC, for this valuable service.

-The Cambria County repeater, KC3DES on 145.21 mhz, is also EchoLink capable. Use N3YFO-R 295354 to link up. For an RF connection, use PL 123 on KC3DES.

-Cambria ARES has successfully tested a text message/email alert system. The system can be used to alert designated amateur operators of an emergency via cell phone text message, email, or both.. Written by fellow ham KB8WOW Tony, this program is an essential part of emergency response. Visit www.kb8wow.com for more information.
